Sapna Pandya, MPH (she, her, hers) is a queer South Asian organizer, advocate, strategist and mother. Over the past 20 years, she has worked at various organizations in the US and abroad, primarily focused on immigrant justice and public health. After directing cancer education programs for 5 years at the South Asian Health Initiative under NYU School of Medicine, Sapna moved back to her natal city of Washington, DC and incorporated a hyper local multi-racial immigrant justice non-profit organization called Many Languages One Voice (MLOV) in 2010. MLOV was established to expand participatory democracy for and by DC-based immigrants who don't speak English as their dominant language, particularly focused on health, education, and labor rights. Sapna has been honored multiple times as a leader in language justice and LGBTQ rights. She speaks Hindi/Urdu, Gujarati, Spanish and English. Sapna lives in DC with her wife and their spirited toddler.
